What causes a phobia?

A phobia is a fear, a fear for many people, debilitating and life changes. But let's explore the concept of fear for half. Fear is good. Fear is an emotion that protects us when we are in danger. Imagine a world without fear, and imagine a world of anarchy and lawlessness. Without fear, they would have little or no incentive to behave and protect ourselves. Fear is the way our brains to protect us.

Throughout the centuries we have learned to be afraidcertain things and situations. It is the fear that protects us from the snakes, sharks and situations that can hurt us. We have reason to be afraid of snakes - many of them are poisonous, and even if they kill us, we know that the best you will feel pain. Similarly, we know that if they fall from heights, it is likely to break a leg or even die. So in these situations that are right to feel fear, because it protects us.

Most people do not particularly like spiders or snakes, butwho do not have a big phobia. So when is a normal fear become a phobia, and what makes some people develop a phobia to situations and everyday objects?

The answer to what a phobia is specific to each individual, but certain situations can help the situation. For example, a person suffering a panic attack in an elevator to avoid taking a lift after that for fear of another panic attack, despite the fact that the environmentprobably played no part in the first attack. The individual, perhaps unconsciously blame the elevator to the attack, and ultimately, lift and so Panic attacks are linked, and soon the fear of elevators and closed spaces is developed, individual was suffering from claustrophobia.

A phobia can be inherited or acquired. Take the case of Brian, a 11yr year boy who is afraid of flying. Why is a 11yr old afraid to fly? The answer can beher mother is also scared. We have learned from our parents, and trust to protect us. Therefore, as our parents, who are supposed to protect us, we have something we learn to be harmful and that we should fear too afraid of it. The danger here is that what may be a slight fear of a parent, can be completely debilitating phobia with a child.

The only thing that all phobias have in common is that they are psychological, and therefore the treatment of phobiasthere. By understanding why we suffer from a specific phobia, we can start treating it. One of the best ways to treat phobias with hypnosis. Hypnosis works by retraining the subconscious to respond to different phobia.
